A friend of mine from DLSU-Canlubang, Jologs, stated something intriguing:
Seems like home schooling (unschooling?) is becoming a more viable option. Not for the faint of heart though (methinks).
Whilst I know that it is not easy, I also find it not too difficult. The thing is – I have been searching for papers stating the disadvantages of home schooling and I have yet to find a published paper or two. Maybe you can help me.
What do you think? With today’s technology, is home schooling one of the answers to the degrading quality of education, which btw is not unique to the Philippines? Should parents take the burden of educating their children since they are, in reality (at least in the Philippines), doing it with the homework their children bring from school anyway? Frankly, sometimes I find that parents are doing what the teachers are expected to do for the kids – so why bother sending them to school? Also, there is no guarantee that the quality of education the kids are getting is adequate since the competency level of teachers is also on the decline (bracing myself for attacks hehe) – I am not saying all teachers but today, I dare say, from experience, a lot of teachers!
