bizmac It is not everyday that you get to find out that your efforts in teaching did not go to naught. A simple “Thank you!” from a former student goes a long way. In fact, it is enough to get to know that somehow, someway, you made a difference.

Whilst it really is not rare but getting a “Thank you” from a student from 12+ years ago is a validation that made my sacrifices as a UP teacher really worth it! To this I say “thank you, too!”

The downside of this is the realization that I am not getting any younger! Hehehe. My former Ateneo high school students are now professionals and probably have kids of their own. I cross paths with a couple of my very first CS11 students from UP. Yes, we all are not getting younger, just wiser. :)
